New Owners Bring a Fun & Hip Vibe to Urban Burger

Ricot and Helena Jean Baptiste are the type of people who don't wait for things to happen - they make things happen. When Helena's brother passed away two years ago the couple was looking for a way to honor his love of burgers and milkshakes. Earlier this year a friend brought it to their attention that the current owner of Urban Burger was looking to sell. Ricot has a background in music and marketing, and Helena is in real estate, but they were both interested in making their vision a reality. In only a few days they decided to take a leap of faith and become restaurant owners. The couple felt confident that Cranford would be a good fit as Ricot's friend Billy is one of the owners of Ambeli Greek Taverna. Billy assured Ricot that Cranford was a great town for small businesses and promised to help him along the way.

Ricot and Helena have five young children (including two sets of twins), so they understand what patrons of Urban Burger are looking for: delicious, quality food in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. The new owners wanted to insure a seamless transition so most of the menu has remained intact. They are looking to make some changes down the line, including offering brunch all weekend long and staying open 7 days a week. Ricot and Helena have become very familiar with the menu at Urban Burger and appreciate the unique options it offers. When asked what his favorite dish on the menu is, Ricot doesn't hesitate to point to the Lincoln Continental. The Lincoln Continental consists of a burger, pork roll and fried egg, all sandwiched between two Belgian waffles. A quick glance at the menu will have you drooling and searching for a pair of pants with an elastic waistband. It goes without saying that you have to bring your appetite when you dine at Urban Burger.

The warm welcome from customers and the Cranford community has proven to Ricot and Helena that their leap of faith was worth it. "We love the town," said Ricot. "Everyone, from the customers to fellow business owners, has done their best to make us feel welcome." So if you're looking for a place that serves up delicious food in a fun and hip atmosphere (and who isn't?) Urban Burger is worth a stop. Oh, and did we forget to mention they also have milkshakes?
