Block by Block Visits Riverfront
One of the newest redeveloped areas in downtown Cranford is Riverfront. This development was a project that was years in the making and now houses some of the most popular spots downtown. Let's explore!
Right at the corner of South Avenue and High Street is Starbucks, a morning stop for many commuters before they head into the city.
Immediately next door to Starbucks is one of the newer downtown businesses, Cranford Fish Stand. Cranford Fish Stand comes from the owners of Jersey City Fish Stand and has quickly become the go-to spot for seafood lovers. The business sells not only a variety of fresh seafood but also grocery items, homemade soup, and meals to go.
The deliciousness continues next door with Alfonso's Pastry Shoppe. Alfonso's originally started in Staten Island, and the Cranford location was their first foray into NJ. Cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pastries and breads can all be found at Alfonso's.
Once you have dessert covered, then a stop at Pastosa Ravioli is in store. Pastosa offers a number of delicious options for customers including fresh pasta, gourmet cheeses, deli sandwiches, and grocery items.
If you walk by Riverfront on a spring or summer night you'll often find the courtyard crowded with diners from Ciao Bello. Ciao Bello is known for its homemade Italian dishes and the restaurant also often hosts private parties and luncheons.
Ciao Bello is also BYOB, which ties in perfectly with their next door neighbor, River and Rail Wine & Spirits. River and Rail Wine & Spirits sells a variety of liquors, wines, and craft beer, making it a great place to stop by on your way out to dinner.
Finishing out the block are River and Rail Cantina and The Cranford Social. River and Rail is known for its beautiful outdoor patio, delicious drinks, and lively atmosphere. There are few better ways to end a summer day than with a margarita out on River and Rail's patio.
For private parties and special events, The Cranford Social is a definite place to check out. The beautiful space can accommodate anywhere from 20 to 250 guests, and hosts everything from birthday parties to bridal showers to corporate luncheons and more.
Don't judge Riverfront just by its storefronts. There are a number of other businesses in the building. Hot Yoga Revolution and Arthur Murray Dance Center both call Riverfront home and have a number of devoted followers. Cloud9 Fabrics also chose Riverfront as the headquarters for its organic fabric company.
