What do I need for a Certificate of Occupancy?

A Certificate of Occupancy (CO) is required for all new structures or additions, sturcutres or portion of structures that have undergone a change of use, or structues that the work was so extensive it was determined to be a reconstruction under the Rehabilitation Subcode.  A CO is normally processed within 10 business days after the final inspections.

In the case of new construction, and the dwelling is to be sold immediately following construction, please allow AT LEAST 3 weeks after the final inspections for the completion of final approvals by the zoning and engineering departments prior the issuance of the CO.  Please make sure you refer to your initial engineering and/or zoning approval letter to make sure all conditions are complied with and any additional information is submitted to the building department for final review.
