NJ Move Over Law

The new jersey move over law On January 27, 2009, Governor Jon S. Corzine signed into law a bill that requires drivers approaching stationary emergency vehicles, tow trucks, and other highway safety vehicles displaying certain flashing lights to move over one lane or, if not safe to change lanes, then to slow down below the posted speed limit.

Failure to move over or slow down is punishable by a fine of $100 to $500, but no points will be assessed for this offense. For a complete copy of the law, visit the website.
