Two River Community Bank Partners with Local Artists to Display Their Work

Two River Community Bank opened on North Avenue in 2015, and its new building came outfitted with an art gallery system. One of the bank's customers, Cynthia Dawley, had an idea to use the gallery system to display the work of local artists. Cynthia is an accomplished artist who is well-known throughout the region, and the bank soon started displaying her work on its walls. Cynthia wanted to make it more of a local showcase, though, and she reached out to other artists in the area. Currently on display is the work of Kerrie Ann Wandlass, a Cranford resident whose work is influenced by Impressionist artists.

For many artists, one of the biggest challenges is finding a space to display their work. Cynthia understands this, which is why she felt the collaboration between Two River Community Bank and artists would be so beneficial for both sides. Cynthia is in charge of the artists whose work is shown, as well as the dates of the displays. She already has additional exhibits lined up for the year, and is often contacted by other interested artists. Cynthia is open to all artistic styles and would eventually like to bring in groups to participate.

The feedback from patrons and employees of Two River Community Bank has been overwhelmingly positive. The artwork gives people a reason to come into the bank and provides a pleasing experience once they're inside. The current display by Kerrie Ann Wandlass will be up through February 14, with open artist receptions on Friday, January 12, 3-4:30pm, and Saturday, January 13 from 10am-12:00pm.
