A New Owner Takes the Reins at Rustic Mill Diner

Nick Siderias grew up in the restaurant business. His father owned the Meadowlands Diner, and his uncle also worked in the industry. Since he was a teenager, Nick worked in restaurants and knew that he wanted to eventually own a restaurant. He kept an eye on properties that were for sale, and came across The Rustic Mill Diner in Cranford. The owners of the diner were retiring, and Nick saw the opportunity to take charge of a well-established business while also building upon its loyal customer base. In April of this year, Nick's dream came true when he officially became the owner of The Rustic Mill Diner.

Nick is working on upgrading the kitchen at the diner, and then plans to turn his focus to updating the diner's interior. The menu is currently the same, but Nick will eventually add dishes that play to his chef's strengths. New menu options will have a special focus on breakfast, as well as on healthier options, especially for lunch. However, the mainstays of a diner (burgers, soups, and sandwiches), will always be found at The Rustic Mill.

Though he's only been at the job for a short time, Nick has enjoyed the experience immensely. The waitresses at the diner, many of whom have been there for years, helped smooth the transition. Customers have welcomed Nick with open arms (while only offering a few suggestions for the changes they'd like to see). Though the dining scene throughout NJ has changed over the years, Nick still sees a need for diners. "People will always want quality food and good service, and we provide that here." said Nick. "We want people to see Rustic Mill as a place the whole family can enjoy."
